empty lip balm appreciation day

I'm one of those people who needs to join Lip Balm Anonymous. I keep a tube of lip balm (or three) in my car, a tube (or two) in my purse, a tube in my desk, a tube in my jeans pocket, and an ever-changing number of tubes in my kitchen medicine cabinet depending on how many of my kids nab one as they leave for school.

The tube in car door well is nearly empty. Or empty to the point where I can no longer swipe my lips across the top and get comfortably balmed. Instead I have to use the tip of my pinky finger to dip, swipe and wipe. This isn't a very satisfying experience but it beats scraping my lips across the top of the plastic rim to the point of chafing my already chapped lips.

You might think an empty tube of lip balm is something to feel sad about. Or bereft, depending on the state of your chapped lips. But not for me.

I am thrilled.

Damn close to deliriously happy.

Why?

Because it means

Same goes for an empty container of

This past summer I emptied one. I'm pretty sure it was the first bottle of sunscreen I managed to hang onto the entire summer and not lose it to someone else's beach bag.

Here are a few more things I haven't emptied but look forward to celebrating when I do:

Because it dries up to a petrified crust after the fourth use.

Because I mainly keep this around for my Louisiana native friends.

And,

Because when I change purses, I always manage to leave a few loose pennies, a wadded up tissue, a stick of gum that's dried-stuck to it's foil wrapper, and a stray tube of

This post is dedicated to the real Aunt Bee in my life. Love you Aunt Bee!

I was just shoving my Burt's Bees Honey lip balm in my pocket after originally applying the Burt's Bees tinted in my bathroom - logged on and ... here's your post. Ditto on the tubes of lip balm strategically placed throughout the house, car, purse(s), gym/yoga bags. Thought I was the only lip balm junkie. Same thing with the purse & leaving "emergency" pennies, bandaids, and 'feminine whatnot.' Cute post!

I would appear in ads for Burt's Bees products.

Car. Train. Bed. Without fail, when I get in the car, I reach for the lipbalm. And when I sit down on the train. And just before I turn out the light.

I can honestly say I have never finished an entire tube of lip balm. Ever! LOL!

I have some eye make up remover that I like. I took it to Yellowstone with me the end of April. It is now December and I haven't run out yet. Mind you, this isn't a gallon size container. Just normal size. I'm a little freaked out, just a little happy and just a little afraid that I will fall apart when it is gone. I don't think they even make it anymore. I have a lip gloss like that too. What's up with this?

Lip balm and reading glasses--I have them stashed all around the house and car.

aime is addicted to carmex. ADDICTED. Throws a tantrum if she can't find it.
But!
good for me because it's an easy and cheap stocking stuffer. :)

I have the lip balm stashed all about, too.

My oldest daughter was threatened with her life on numerous occasions for leaving it in her pockets and tossing things into the wash. Lip balm in the dryer does not do any favors for a load of clothes...

Holy crikey, but we are the same person. All I want is something new so that I can use it enough to get a replacement--all the better if it's lip balm.

So, um, hi. I have no idea why it's been so long.

Carmex. I love the stuff.

I have to laugh -- I'm sort of envious that you actually EMPTIED a bottle of sunscreen.

I'm a Carmex gal myself.

I am so with you. Do you have one of those fabulous lip balm slings that you can attach to your keys? I couldn't live without mine.

I need my lip balm too! I have an idea for a bracelet that holds a secret compartment for lip balm but I think it's been invented.

What about sunglasses?...why aren't those on your list? Or am I the only one who can't keep a pair for more than 3 days?

I know what you mean - little tubes like that are designed to get lost!
