dishonor roll

Californians Against Hate (CAH) is a group dedicated to "out" those who contribute money to the cause of denying same sex marriage rights. CAH recently published their "Dishonor Roll," a list of individuals, companies, and organizations who donated big dollars ($5000 or more) in the effort to help pass Proposition 8. Check out the list, Californians in particular. Boycott where applicable; shake your head in disapproval where your consumer power isn't.

Here's an example, according to CAH,

"San Diego businessman Terry Caster, who owns A-1 Self Storage Company was California’s 2nd biggest individual contributor to the Yes on 8 campaign. Caster and his family gave nearly $700,000 to Yes on 8, including $400,000 just five days before the election."

Thanks to Andrew Sullivan at the Daily Dish for posting the link first and to my friend J for sending me the email. And To Form a More Perfect Union for the pic.

I have been getting a lot of heat from prop 8 supporters for posting that on my blog a few days back.

I can't very well boycott Sempra Energy (SDG&E), but I can avoid the Grand Hyatt.

I still can't figure out how two married gay men are going to destroy my own marriage....

Did you hear that Focus on the Family (James Dobson's group) in Colorado, who pumped over half a million dollars into California in support of Prop 8, announced yesterday they were laying off about 20% of their workforce due to lack of sufficient funds? Only two months after initial layoffs?

Now THAT'S being on the dishonor roll!

thank you very much for this post. and heather's comment about focus on the family is, er, interesting.

once again, i'm very grateful to live in canada, and particularly in vancouver, where same sex marriage has become an institution.

This makes me want to live in CA, just so I can boycott. I'll disavow what I can from Minnesota!

As a former Catholic it's good to see that things haven't changed much since I left. The Knightsof Columbus topping the list...big surprise! Shoot! It only took 'em 400 years or so to let Galileo off the hook for saying the earth went around the sun.

next time I'm in San Diego I'll give him a dirty look, and I will NOT store anything in his storage units. That'll get him,

queers -- thankfully no heat here. yet.

jenn -- I saw the energy co. and thought of you and your post awhile back

mental p -- men will run from their spouses, into the arms of other men, leaving behind bereft and confused wives?

heather -- well, there is one silver lining here

isabella -- is it any wonder so many USAers threaten to move to canada?

jocelyn -- yah, not many opportunities to help the cause on a national scale

kelli -- I saw your link, and thanks

stacie -- the KC's are worried about their ever shrinking pool of priest wannabee's

flutter -- sad is right

stacie -- even duplicate posts are welcome here... triplicate, in fact

vodka -- storage units and homophobia, hmmm, there's a joke there somewhere

debateur -- it hurts their sense of moral self righteousness. isn't that enough?

nora bee -- no, you!

cheri -- shiz, yo

jck -- I haven't heard that. I would be very surprised if it were true.
