As I wrote here,
shone down on New Year's Eve.
I believed it was
an omen of
good things to come.
Perhaps more rare than a blue moon, this red Bluebonnet growing on my street, might be one such good thing.
It's such a beautiful time of year, spring.
And when you come upon a field of Bluebonnets, you do believe there's nothing prettier in nature.
Below is Nanci Griffith singing a duet with Darius Rucker (of Hootie and the Blowfish) about a Bluebonnet Spring:

I love bluebonnet time in Austin. This weekend I took pictures of a patch of them while sitting in my car at a red light. Some day this week, I'm going to torture the kids by making them actually sit in the flowers so that I can take more pictures.
I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild - certainly not in my neck of the woods.
Look at you, waxing poetic! Methinks you're in a mellow spring loving mood! A feel-good post if ever there was one.
Have a super day :)
I don't think I've ever seen a bluebonnet before, it's really pretty. Happy Spring!
hokgardner -- bluebonnets just inspire. they truly do.
jenn -- bluebonnets do that to a girl!
tammy -- happy to share the bonnets!
Doesn't get much better than bluebonnets & Nanci Griffith.
gorgeous. I love both the red and the blue.
I love me some Nanci Griffith. And I've never seen a red bonnet before! I've seen them pink/lavendar, but never red! I love spring in Texas. Love it.
Everything is blooming like crazy in Ohio. Do we have these flowers? Probably. Beautiful picture. My allergies start acting up just looking at it.
No bluebonnets in CA - pretty. And I like the new bloggy look!
I adore spring, and ALL it brings...
I love bluebonnets!! A red sport - thats funny!
Our California lupines are in bloom right now - not as true a blue, but still pretty.
Beautiful blog makeover!
That new banner is as pretty as the blue bonnets!
I've never seen a bluebonnet. It looks somewhat like our snapdragons but prettier.
Beautiful...love Nanci. And I LOVE the new header!
Wow, a red one!
I'm loving this bluebonnet season. I didn't know until this year that a field of bluebonnets smells like heaven.
It's always fun to see flowers.
Texas, god I love it. Drive down a two lane highway somewhere between El Paso and Eagle Pass, maybe high lonely, and you may be graced with seeing a meadow rolling in the breeze with blue bonnet.
Gorgeous. I love the red one!
Red bonnet amidst the scattered blue...an omen indeed. Or a glimpse of a saucy maiden. :)
Saw Nancy Griffith in concert a long while ago. She was lovely.
